We are currently under production on our animation. We are each working on a character, and have chosen a rig to work with.
In a character rig, the parts of the body are connected with joints, IK handles and controls, enabling the user to move it and animating it smoothly. in addition, the character rig can be given optional features, such as facial hair and clothing. For my part of the group task, my character will be animated using the Morpheus Rig, a source which i had been familiar with in the past, and have been experienced in use before. But this would be the first time i get to use it for animation, as i previously used it for designs.
The Morpheus rig provides a ton of controls, so i can easily move the head, the hips, arms, feet, etc.. the rig also comes with custom set of tools, to change the appearance of the character. So the original rig, which is shown as a male, can altered for anyone who wishes to use a female character. there are custom attributes for changing his/her eyebrows and hairstyle, and the sliders can adjust the size of her facial features. for the character's clothes, i had to follow a simple step-by-step guide to extract the mesh of the character, duplicate it and edit it to make a t-shirt, shoes and pair of shorts. the clothes have been put in place and they work great when moving with the character mesh. the textures for eye and skin colour are included in the pack, but require to be imported on to the scene, especially if you wish to change it.
A few animation tests have been made for the character rig. these were so i could get an idea on moving the character and altering her emotions. Along with the face test and running cycle, i also made a short test run of the scene she would be in.
